Some green stamps this week. I wonder how many colours there are of those French stamps? Went to the funeral of a friend this week which was a strange old day. Ought to put some of it down in words.
Also went to see Conquering Animal Sound live this week in a pub in Leicester and they were great. Their album is great too.
Lucky dip from my stamp jar!
According to the person that gave me these, it’s George who is the stamp of the week. I’m not so sure.
Stamps about to be posted, rather than received, this week. On a postcard from the Japanese Print shop in beautiful York. Aren’t the Crown Jewels stamps massive?
France again. How would describe that yellow? Buttercup yellow?
Found these in my copy of Graeme Gibson’s ‘The Bedtime Book of Birds’ – I was using them as a bookmark. Switzerland makes me think of ‘Tender is the night’ by F.Scott Fitzgerald. There’s a wonderful description in that book of Dick and Nicole listening to music on a portable gramophone which I ought to dig out at some point.
Another stamp from regular reader James Schadla-Hall, this time on a postcard from Northumberland. I remember going to Alnwick for my A-level geography field trip and carry many memories of the visit. From hanging around the bookies in Alnwick to following the Aln from source to sea. it was also the first time I’d seen massive heavy industrial areas which came as quite a shock.
Olympic fever! I like the wrestlers.
